Ecommerce & Platforms

Been into E-commerce for a quite some time now, I feel an urge to think and share some of thoughts and learning which I have learnt & also to acquire more knowledge from the thought leaders here. Now we all know what is e-commerce, it has been serving us from the last 15 odd years, I am going to write a long-short gist here regarding the platforms and how do platforms help us here to build a successful website.

Now, What is an e-commerce platform? It is a software technology that helps you to build storefronts, a storefront is any customer or business facing proposition relating to the selling of products and services. Some of the big e-commerce platforms are Hybris, Magento, Demandware. Now again, there are a lot of platforms, I am not going to list all those and make this a more boring post.

Now comes the coding Part, coding can be done in JAVA, PHP, .net, So yeah if we have experience in these techs, learning an e-commerce framework will be like adding some required essence to the milk and making a shakeout of it. Let me add some more details to this post, E-commerce provides a framework which includes, API’s, DATA models, Business Logic, Develop environments, Server Side scripts, Integration Framework, Will be writing about how business and e-commerce connects in the coming posts
